<3 We recognize this might be triggering for many people… love and light to all survivors <3

In May 2013, an armed man broke into the house where she was staying, raped Kendra, assaulted other residents, and robbed the house of valuables. The perpetrator was identified by DNA evidence and was apprehended by the police in July 2013. His trial is set for January 28th. He is facing a life sentence on 16 counts.

We are raising funds to support Kendra during this crucial time surrounding the trial on January 28th.

She has identified the need for bodywork, therapy and monetary support as it might be difficult for her to work during time surrounding the trial. It will no doubt be re-traumatizing to face the perpetrator and testify against him.

Kendra was displaced due to this incident. Her housing has been unstable since the assault, and we would like to contribute some funds towards securing a permanent living situation for her. Money will also go to replacing stolen items.

We hope you take the time to contribute to this fund. Everything helps, though we do ask that people be sensitive to the need for privacy for those affected by the incident — kind words and hugs are welcome, repost, but please don’t ask for details about what happened (unless it’s offered).

For years I had the goal of becoming a library media specialist (pretty much a school librarian), but I knew those jobs were disappearing. Recently I met someone who works as a library media specialist at a school near my house. He says there used to be 2,000 of those jobs in Michigan, and now there are 800 and it’s dropping.
